We are a student team from the University of Genoa, composed of students specializing in naval, electrical, and telecommunications engineering, united by a passion for nautical sports and the technological challenges in this field. Our objective is to design and build boats to compete in student competitions at both national and international levels, with an approach that combines advanced technical expertise, teamwork, and creativity.
With a diverse set of skills, our team can tackle every phase of the project with a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach. Naval engineering students focus on designing the hull and hydrodynamic features of the boat, ensuring stability, efficiency, and high performance. Electrical engineering students concentrate on power systems and energy management, crucial for maximizing output, while telecommunications students work on solutions for remote control, monitoring, and real-time data acquisition.
This combination of expertise allows us to approach challenges in the nautical sector with a cutting-edge perspective, developing technologies that aim to enhance the efficiency, performance, and sustainability of vessels. Participating in these competitions allows us not only to test our solutions in real conditions but also to engage with teams from other universities, helping us grow as future engineers ready to tackle the challenges of sustainable and innovative mobility in the maritime sector.
The Team participates in the annual competition organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco for the development of an innovative electric boat (EBC). Our team aims to build a prototype to compete in this event within the Energy class, applying all the skills developed by our students.
The event has an international impact, hosting participants from over 50 countries and is broadcast live on major social networks (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook). Following the event, articles are published in leading nautical magazines such as Barche, PressMare, and SuperYacht, along with interviews by prominent YouTube channels dedicated to the nautical industry, including The Boat Show and Yacht Club de Monaco.
Team Elettra will be participating in the competition for the third time, after securing two third-place finishes in the 2023 and 2024 editions.
In addition to the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, in 2024 Team Elettra also took part in the Sardinia Innovative Boat Week (Olbia, October 15-18, 2024 - SIBW). This competition featured similar races to those in Monte Carlo, and our team achieved first place overall.
On January 11, 2025, Team Elettra was interviewed by the television program Linea Verde on Rai 1, highlighting our journey, innovations, and achievements in sustainable nautical engineering.
